Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE), the first Chinese astronomical satellite, finished its early stage on-orbit calibration on March 17 2016. The picture is for the Delivery ceremony.

The detector of DAMPE works very well and has scanned ~2/3 of the full sky. More than 460 million high-energy cosmic rays have been collected and the data analysis by an international collaboration is ongoing. According to Prof. Jin Chang from Purple Mountain Observatory: “DAMPE will work in space for at least three years. In the first two years DAMPE will carry out sky survey while in the third year some pointed observations are expected. The first results of DAMPE are expected to be available by the end of 2016”.
